This piece is originally from May 1993 and was created just under half a year after I produced my first piece of computer music.
One morning in early 2018 it just suddenly started playing in my head, and I saw that as a sign of that it was time to finally do the remake I had been planning for a long time already.
The original version can be found on the "Planets" album here:
sheobi.bandcamp.com/track/venus.
Originally intended to be part of a series covering all planets in our solar system (and certain moons as well), the piece has now undergone quite significant changes in sound design and arrangement, while still retaining much of the original composition and its quirks (and adding new ones).
I tried to keep the planet in mind while working on this new version, creating the cover art in parallel with the music, and I feel that in some ways the current result captures the scorching atmosphere and hostile nature of its planet namesake better than the old tracker module, and the "inverted" planetary image in the cover emphasizes its mysteries.
At the same time, the track also became sort of a theme tune for the worrying climate change now taking place on our own planet: Earth.
That said, the track might still be updated further in the future.
